ArboFlex is a trunk protection paste specifically developed to prevent or reduce thermal (abiotic) bark damage caused by sunburn or frost. The German guideline ZTV Baumpflege-2017 stipulates that trunk protection must remain intact for at least 5 years to provide optimal protection for the bark. ArboFlex meets this requirement and offers such protection.
When young trees are planted, they suddenly lose the protection they had in the nursery from mutual shading, leaving them exposed to direct sunlight. During pruning, trunks and branches are often uncovered, putting previously shaded bark at risk of thermal damage. It is important to protect all trees that naturally have thin bark, such as Fagus, Carpinus, and Tilia, from sunburn. Espalier trees are particularly at risk. To eliminate the risk of thermal damage, sun-sensitive bark should be protected from both summer and winter sun for at least 5 years. For apricots and plums, an even longer protection period is necessary to prevent pseudomonas infections.
Due to damage from extreme weather conditions or road safety measures, previously shaded trunks or tree crowns may suddenly be exposed to the risk of sunburn. In such cases, immediate protection of the vulnerable bark is crucial to maintaining the tree’s vitality.
LX60 Primer is applied as a base layer on the bark surface with a brush. It serves as a bonding agent for ArboFlex. LX60 is yellow in colour, providing a visual indication to the user of which part of the trunk has already been primed.
