BiteProtect

Wildlife damage occurs when wild animals harm a tree’s trunk by feeding on it. Both small animals (rabbits, mice, and rats) and larger animals (sheep, goats, ponies, horses, and deer) can cause significant damage by gnawing at the trunk or rubbing their antlers or horns against the bark. When a tree is damaged by wildlife, it becomes more susceptible to diseases and pests. Additionally, partial or complete girdling can occur, which disrupts the flow of nutrients and water between the roots and leaves of the tree, leading to the tree becoming weakened and potentially dying.

To protect trees from wildlife damage, the circular and height-adjustable BiteProtect trunk protector is used. This trunk protector provides an additional protective layer around the tree, preventing both small and large animals from accessing the bark. The trunk remains open to ensure it receives sufficient air and light, preventing bark rot.

BiteProtect is made from recycled polyethylene (PE) and is fully recyclable. Once the young tree has sufficiently developed, the trunk protectors can be removed and reused for other young trees.

BiteProtect is not only an effective trunk protector against wildlife damage but can also be used on golf courses. BiteProtect is applied to protect trees from the impact of golf balls. When golf balls hit a tree trunk at high speed, it can cause damage that weakens the tree.

Due to our own production, we sometimes have residual rolls of BiteProtect available. These residuals are of the same high quality as standard BiteProtect. The residuals come in various heights, supplied on 50-metre rolls, at a reduced price of €2.50/m². All residual rolls are black.
