Smart rainwater management with AquaRaft in the heart of the natural surroundings of the Heeswijkse Bossen

The roof completed at Café Stanserhorn with AquaRaft water retention

Café Stanserhorn, located in the green rural area of Heeswijk-Dinther, was renovated in 2025. The building consists of two storeys of timber elements with a roof garden. On this roof garden, the innovative AquaRaft water retention system by GreenMax has been applied. The modules capture rainwater, store it temporarily and release it gradually, reducing pressure on the sewer system and preventing flooding. The stored water can be reused for planting on the roof garden. The project combines aesthetic value with innovative, future-proof techniques.

Café in a beautiful green setting

In the rural area of the North Brabant village of Heeswijk-Dinther lies Café Stanserhorn, surrounded by a beautiful green environment. The café has a long history dating back to its founding in 1938. Inspired by the majestic beauty of the Waldstättersee region in Switzerland, the owners chose to give their own place the same name, hoping it would convey the same sense of tranquillity and wonder.

AquaRaft for water retention on the roof garden

In 2025, Café Stanserhorn was renovated. The building consists of two storeys made of timber elements with a roof garden featuring various types of planting. On this roof garden, the AquaRaft water retention system by GreenMax has been applied. It works as follows: rainwater flows into the largely hollow AquaRaft modules, which therefore have a high storage capacity. They temporarily retain the water and only release it once the peak rainfall has passed. The stored rainwater can then be used for the planting on the roof garden. In this way, the load on the sewer system is reduced and flooding is minimised. The AquaRaft system is lightweight, making it ideal for use on roofs. Thanks to smart connections, AquaRaft modules are also easy to link and quick to install in a variety of projects.

Aesthetic value combined with innovative technology

The renovation of Café Stanserhorn is a beautifully successful project in the heart of the Heeswijkse Bossen. On sunny days, walkers, cyclists and other passers-by enjoy the hospitality of this café. And on days when the rain pours down, the water is smartly captured and retained on the roof gardens of Café Stanserhorn. It is a successful project in which aesthetic value blends seamlessly with innovative and future-proof techniques!
