Daher sollte ein Gie\u00dfrand immer 20 Zentimeter \u00fcber den Boden hinausragen und 10 Zentimeter in den Boden eingelassen sein. Die Form des Gie\u00dfrandes ist ebenfalls ein wichtiger Faktor. Post-consumer afval daarentegen verwijst naar materialen die zijn afgedankt door eindgebruikers nadat ze zijn gebruikt. Dit omvat bijvoorbeeld plastic shampooflessen, tandpastatubes en andere consumentenproducten die worden ingezameld voor recycling. Gietranden kunnen bijna eindeloos worden gerecycled. Wanneer de gietrand wordt gerecycled, wordt het gemengd met een kleine hoeveelheid kunststof granulaat (samengeperste plastic korrels) dat iets minder vaak is gerecycled.
