T\u00e4glich nutzen 2.600 Autofahrer und 400 Radfahrer diese Stra\u00dfe. An Wochenenden, an denen diese Zahlen deutlich \u00fcberschritten werden, erf\u00fcllt De Steeg aufgrund der sch\u00f6nen gr\u00fcnen Umgebung auf beiden Stra\u00dfenseiten eine wichtige Erholungsfunktion. W\u00e4hrend trockener Sommer suchten die Wurzeln der entlang der Stra\u00dfe stehenden B\u00e4ume nach Kondenswasser unter dem Asphalt. Die Folge war Wurzelaufbruch. Alle drei bis f\u00fcnf Jahre musste deshalb die Asphaltdeckschicht abgefr\u00e4st und anschlie\u00dfend erneuert werden.
